Mean Field Studies of Exotic Nuclei

چکیده
Full three dimensional static and dynamic mean field calculations using collocation basis splines with a Skyrme type Hamiltonian are described. This program is developed to address the difficult theoretical challenges offered by exotic nuclei. Ground state and deformation properties are calculated using static HartreeFock, Hartree-Fock+BCS and constrained Hartree-Fock models. Collective properties, such as reaction rates and resonances, are described using a new alternate method for evaluating linear response theory, which is constructed directly on top of the static calculation. This provides a consistent description of the ground state, deformation and collective nuclear properties. Sample results are presented for the giant multiple resonances of 16O.

Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov and RPA description of exotic nuclear structure
A review of recent applications of the relativistic mean-field theory to the structure of exotic nuclei is presented. Models based on the relativistic mean-field approximation provide a microscopically consistent description of the nuclear many-body problem, not only in nuclei along the valley of β-stability, but also in exotic nuclei with extreme isospin values and close to the particle drip l...
متن کاملAnalytically solvable mean - field potential for stable and exotic nuclei
Slater determinants built from the single-particle wave functions of the analytically solvable Ginocchio potential are used to approximate the self-consistent Hartree-Fock solutions for the ground states of nuclei. The results indicate that the Ginocchio potential provides a good parametrization of the nuclear mean field for a wide range of nuclei, including those at the limit of particle stabi...
متن کاملSpherical Relativistic Hartree theory in a Woods-Saxon basis
The Woods-Saxon basis has been suggested to replace the widely used harmonic oscillator basis for solving the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory in order to generalize it to study exotic nuclei. As examples, relativistic Hartree theory is solved for spherical nuclei in a Woods-Saxon basis obtained by solving either the Schrödinger equation or the Dirac equation (labelled as SRHSWS and SRHDWS,...

Starting from successful self-consistent mean-field models, this paper discusses why and how to go beyond the mean field approximation. To include long-range correlations from fluctuations in collective degrees of freedom, one has to consider symmetry restoration and configuration mixing, which give access to ground-state correlations and spectroscopy. متن کاملRelativistic mean - field study of light nuclei near drip line
The relativistic mean field theory is applied to study some exotic properties of neutron rich nuclei as recently observed, namely, extension of the drip-line for F nuclei from 29 F to 31 F and the appearence of a new shell closure at neutron number N = 16. We find 31 F to be bound against one-neutron dripping but unbound only marginally for two neutron separation. The calculated functional depe...
